Mission Statement
The mission of the Council on Aging is to enhance the lives of Harvard residents age 60 and above. The Council identifies and addresses the ongoing social, recreational, educational, vocational, financial, transportation and therapeutic needs of Harvard’s senior population.  This is accomplished through program development, advocacy, legislative awareness and involvement, and community linkages.

Harvard’s COA was established by Town Meeting vote in 1977 as sanctioned under MA General Laws, Chapter 40, Sect.8B (1956). It is administered by the state Executive Office of Elder Affairs and a local Selectmen-appointed Board of Directors. Although there is now a COA and senior center in almost every Massachusetts City and Town, each is unique, reflecting each community’s needs and character.
