Dear Harvard Community:
Annual Town Meeting (ATM) is almost here (Sat., April 2nd) and the Pilot Project is excited to be part of the recommendations and warrant article presented by the Municipal Building Committee (MBC).
In preparation for ATM 2011, the Pilot Project and the other two buildings that are part of the MBC's recommendation (Town Hall and Hildreth House) will be hosting four open houses in March (see schedule below). On each of these dates, all three buildings will be open to the public with members of MBC on hand to answer questions. Residents are encouraged to come and share their memories of these three buildings.
As part of the open house, residents can tour the buildings and, in the process, learn stories of their past lives, see the present needs, and envision future opportunities:
- at Hildreth House, you can see the cherry paneling and grand staircase, the butler’s pantry, the soapstone sink, the shoeshine seat, and the sweeping view to the Common.
- in upper Town Hall, visit the balcony loft where overflow from a town meeting sat, see the Steinway piano, and walk on what was once touted as “the best dancing floor for miles around.”
- at the Pilot Project at the old library visit the mirrored movement room, visitor’s information desk, and exhibit space under the huge skylight.
Children are welcome and refreshments will be served. Residents may start at any location and walk, drive or take a shuttle van to the next site.
MBC “Open 3” schedule*:
Saturday, March 12, 10am – 2pm
Wednesday, March 16, 3pm – 6pm
Sunday, March 20, 10am – 2pm
Saturday, March 26, 10am – 2pm
*Tours will be held regardless of weather
Hope to see you there!
