Revised Charge: Old Library Accessibility Committee - November 2017

The original scope of work given to the Old Library Accessibility Committee (OLAC) was to “address handicap accessibility issues in the Old Library and report back to the Board of Selectmen.”

The OLAC recommended and the BOS accepted pursuing the preferred option of restoring the historic front entrance to the building. The November 6, 2017 Special Town Meeting approved funding for proceeding with the construction phase of this option.

Therefore, the original scope of work is expanded and the OLAC is charged with overseeing construction through completion of this project. Tasks include:

Recommendation to the BOS of an architectural firm to prepare detail design/construction drawings and associated bid documents

Recommendation of contractor(s)

General oversight of the building process

The OLAC membership will be expanded from the current 4 members (Ken Swanton and Lucy Wallace, BOS; Mark Mikitarian, HCC; and Wendy Cote-Magan, resident/architect) to add an additional member, preferably one with construction experience. Chris Cutler was appointed in December of 2017. The OLAC membership was expanded to six members and Pete Jackson was appointed in February of 2018.
