Dear Planning Board Members,
I have reviewed the current condition of Barnum Road and offer the following observations:
The first 4,750 LF of the roadway surface is in fair condition and requires immediate attention in the form of pavement milling and an overlay of bituminous concrete. The cost of this work I estimate at $175,000.00.
The remaining 3,175 LF of roadway is in good condition and I would recommend immediate maintenance in the form of bituminous fiber crack filling. I estimate this to cost $10,000.00. This will hold the road together another five years at which time pavement milling and bituminous concrete overlay may be required.
I estimate the annual pavement maintenance cost to be $25,000.00 avg. over the next 15 years for the 1.5 miles of roadway.
I estimate the annual cost of roadside maintenance, plowing and sanding, sweeping and drainage system maintenance to be approx. $15,000.00/yr.
I therefore estimate the ongoing costs of ownership of this road to be approx. $40,000.00/year.
If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me.
Best Regards,
