CAUCUS

The Annual Town Caucus to nominate candidates for the Annual Town Election will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall Meeting Room. There is a quorum requirement of 25 Harvard registered voters to hold a Caucus. Caucus nominations require a Harvard registered voter to nominate a candidate and another to second the nomination. Up to two people receiving the highest number of votes for an open seat will be nominated by the Caucus.

                      Open seats are as follows:

Moderator                                        One Position for 1 Year

Select Board                                    Two Positions for 3 Years

Library Trustees                              Two Positions for 3 Years

School Committee                           Two Positions for 3 Years

Warner Free Lecture Trustees       Two Positions for 3 Years

You don’t need to be present at the Caucus to be nominated for the seat, however you must sign the Caucus Certificate of Nomination after Caucus or by the deadline of 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2020 in the Town Clerk's office for your name to appear on the ballot.

If not nominated by the Caucus, a candidate may also run for office by taking out nomination papers from the Town Clerk’s office. Nomination papers will be available in the Town Clerk’s office beginning Monday, March 2, 2020. Twenty-five (25) certified signatures of voters registered in Harvard are required to place a candidate on the ballot.  It is recommended to collect more on the chance that some signatures cannot be certified. The signed nomination papers must be filed with the Town Clerk by 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 in the Cronin Auditorium, Time to be determined.
