Information about the COVID-19 vaccine

The State of Massachusetts has a plan to roll out the COVID-19 vaccine to its citizens. That plan can be reviewed at www.mass.gov/covidvaccine.

As a vaccine provider, the Board of Health must administer the vaccine in accordance with the State’s roll out plan.  The State has recently decided local COVID-19 vaccine clinics should be discouraged and emphasis will be put on large through-put sites.  The Board of Health is disappointed that we will not be able to provide a clinic for our community at this time.  Many residents stepped forward to volunteer to assist the BoH in running a local clinic.  We are humbled that there are so many people who want to help, in some way, to bring an end to the pandemic.  If the State changes its position on local clinics and it makes sense for Harvard to participate, we will let you know.

People in Phase 1, individuals age 75 and older, individuals age 65-74, individuals with 2+ certain medical conditions, & residents and staff of low income and affordable senior housing can get the COVID-19 vaccine now.  Vaccination sites can be found on the Commonwealth's map at http://www.mass.gov/COVIDVaccineMap.

Individuals looking to get vaccinated should take the following steps:

1.  Please visit the State’s website listed above to find out when you are eligible to receive the vaccine and a convenient location; the site is updated regularly.

2.  Contact your primary care provider to inquire when they will be administering the vaccine.

3.  Check with your local pharmacy or the large pharmacy chains to see when they will start to administer the vaccine.

The Board of Health will continue to look for options to partner in the State’s vaccination program and will inform the community if we are able to provide vaccinations.

Please remember, plans for vaccination are changing several times a week.  Please keep checking these websites for updated information.
