School Committee

Mission Statement:

Harvard's school committee is composed of five elected members serving three year terms, as well as a member appointed by the Devens Educational Advisory Committee in compliance with our Devens contract. The primary responsibilities of the school committee are to set policies and goals for the district, appoint and evaluate the superintendent, and adopt and oversee Harvard's school budget.

The goal of the school committee is to fulfill the vision of the district to provide an environment where each student is known and respected and where each student's potential is developed. To that end, the school committee works to ensure the allocation of adequate resources and proper management so that the school district continues to reflect the standards and expectations of the Harvard community.

School Committee meetings take place on the second and fourth Monday evenings of the month in the Town Hall meeting room and are televised on Harvard's local cable access channel. Meeting schedules and agendas are available on the town of Harvard's website at least 48 hours in advance. Meetings are open to all and public input is welcomed at each meeting during a commentary period scheduled towards the beginning of the meeting.
